Our last evening opening of the Dogdyke steam and diesel drainage engines this year will be on Thursday 16 July 2026 from 5.00pm to 8.00pm.
Come and have a pleasant evening by the River Witham, to see the engines at work and enjoy our refreshments and chat with friends. It is an opportunity to enjoy this quiet rural site which has its own magic in the evening light.
The unique 1856 Bradley and Craven steam engine will be at work, operating a 26-foot diameter wooden scoop wheel which lifts the water out of the drain. Also at work is the Lincoln built 40hp Ruston and Hornsby diesel pump of 1940. Typical of the type once used in many of the Fen drainage pumping stations.
Classic Cars, bikes and scooters.
A display of classic cars, motorbikes and scooters will give an added attraction for visitors. Many memories.
There is a car park, refreshments and a museum in the pump attendant’s cottage, as well as a bric-a-brac and plant stall.
The engines are found east of Tattershall Bridge on the A153 Sleaford to Horncastle Road, with an access road through Bridge Farm, LN4 4JG. The ‘what3word’ location is: shuttling.unopposed.stunning and for further information visit our web site, www.dogdyke.com or ring 07464948549
Admission to the site is free, but we do welcome donations which are used to maintain these engines
This will be a great evening out for all the family.
