The army comes to Dogdyke Pumping Station to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day and operation Market Garden. There will be military vehicles, classic cars, military displays and music of the era.

It is also the last chance this year to see and hear our unique 1856 steam driven land drainage engine at work. This unique beam engine, built by Bradley and Craven, in Wakefield, drives the large scoop wheel pump which lifts water from the lower drain to the river Witham.

Also at work is the 1940 Ruston and Hornsby 7XHR 40hp oil engine operating the centrifugal Gwynne’s pump, both made in Lincoln.
These engine were once the mainstay for keeping peoples’ homes and the farmland dry in the Lincolnshire Fens.

Have an enjoyable day out with all the family.
Admission to the site is free.
Donations are welcome to help maintain the engines and site.
The pumping station is well signposted east of Tattershall Bridge on the A153 Sleaford to Horncastle road, with an access road to the car park through Bridge Farm, LN4 4JG, (What3Words – shuttling.unopposed.stunning). Refreshments are available in the pump attendant’s cottage where there is a small museum and bric-a-brac, tombola and plant stalls are found in the attractive grounds.

This is our last open day for 2024, we will reopen on Sunday 4 May 2025.
