For our next open day we are having a radio themed vintage day – doors open from 1230 to 1630

Come along and see various vintage radio equipment ranging from the 1930s to the 1960s, as well as other strange and interesting electrical items.  We are trying to imagine how people lived during these times and how they might have kept up to date with news or entertainment articles, maybe even the pump attendant had a similar radio set, and when not working on the engine perhaps he and his family listened to the news of the day.

Also some more modern examples of how radio communications can be used by anyone for sending photographs or picking up weather satellite pictures, no internet connection or smartphone required!

As usual the steam engine will be operating and is now operating brilliantly after the hard work of the volunteers over the winter months.
